Cylinder 7 Injector "A" Circuit
High· Fix promptlyIntermediatePowertrainGeneric, all makes
What it means
The ECU has detected an electrical fault (open or short) in the fuel injector circuit for cylinder 7. That cylinder will misfire because it is not getting fuel.
Is it safe to drive?
Drive only to a repair shop. A dead injector causes a misfire, which can damage the catalytic converter if driven for long.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Misfire and rough running
- Loss of power
- Poor fuel economy
Probable causes
Most likely first
- 1Failed injector coil (open or shorted)
- 2Damaged or unplugged injector connector
- 3Open or shorted wiring (rodent damage is common)
- 4Blown injector fuse
- 5ECU injector driver fault (rare)
How to diagnose it
Work through these in order before buying parts
- 1Record the code and its freeze frame data (speed, load, temperature when it set), then clear it and see if it comes back.
- 2Inspect the injector connector and harness for damage.
- 3Measure injector resistance and compare with the others (typical high-impedance injectors read 11–18 Ω).
- 4Use a noid light to confirm the ECU is pulsing the injector during cranking.
- 5Check the injector power supply fuse.
- 6Check for technical service bulletins (TSBs) or software updates for your make and model; some codes have known factory fixes.
Common fixes
- Replace the faulty injector
- Repair the wiring or connector
- Replace the fuse
This information is general guidance for all makes. Exact causes, specifications and procedures vary by vehicle, so confirm with your service manual or a qualified mechanic before replacing parts.
